Hamilton Capital has been a long-term client of Horizons. I spent many years supporting their original site that was built within Kentico CMS. My team collaborated with Hamilton’s marketing department for a complete brand overhaul with a custom theme and began development in WordPress. Creating a custom theme provided us with greater control over managing assets, performance enhancements and an ability to develop a template system that their entire staff could use. I also created an event system used to track signups for Market Briefings and Women’s Exchange events.

Over the last 10 years, I’ve worked closely with DACC’s Public Relations Supervisor, Alicia Mowry to help deliver an engaging digital experience for students and their parents. In the summer of 2019, we released a unique menu system that allows users to select up to four options to feature on their DACC home page. The selections made are saved to a cookie which is recalled each time the browser reloads the page. Since the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year, Google Analytics reports a 6% increase in users, a 5.6% increase in sessions, and the bounce rate has decreased by 4.8%.
Being part of a movement can be a rewarding experience. In 2008, Dr. Rob Crane and I began our journey when he approached me about redesigning the Tobacco 21 website. In its infancy, the site didn’t draw much attention, but as momentum around the movement began to grow so did the popularity of the website. Now in its 3rd rendition, Tobacco 21 draws in 13,000 users a month and is frequently accessed by agencies such as the CDC and ATF.
Throughout my years of service at Horizons, I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Coughlin family (JEGS). Cody Coughlin approached me about creating a fansite that would showcase highlights from his career and could also present opportunities for partnerships. During his time racing in the Nascar Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), Cody’s marketing team remarked how his website and sponsorship kit (also produced at Horizons) played a vital role in building relationships with 35 different vendors.
Since 2014, I’ve had the pleasure of working with the Schmidt family. Search visibility has always been a top priority for this restaurant group. Schmidthaus.com generally ranks in the top 10 results when queries include, “German Village.” During an audit performed at the beginning of 2019, I discovered the framework was falling behind modern performance standards and lacked accessibility features, so we presented Schmidt’s with a plan for updates. After the rebuild, Lighthouse now scores their site pages within the upper 80s to mid-90s. From 2014 – 2017, while being in charge of running their email campaigns, we helped build their mailing list to over 20,000 users.

Specializing in a highly unique B2B product can make search visibility a real challenge. During a keyword planning session, I discovered a low-cost PPC opportunity that has the potential to increase site visibility by 20%. Utilizing an exact match campaign targeting a competitor as our keyword, we can align JS2 as a top search result in a market where they are relatively unknown.
One of American Green Ventures’ best-selling products found its way to Columbus, Ohio in 2015. Since then, I’ve been AVG’s preferred web developer with a main responsibility of implementing layouts drafted by their marketing team. The current version of spillfix.com was designed for speed, and Google Lighthouse reports an average load time of 1.8 seconds.
This site may be showing its age, but it is certainly still a hit with race fans! TeamJEGS is a digital archive of the Coughlin family race team. Countless articles, photo galleries, and driver stats are maintained with Drupal CMS.
Site owner, Chris Cooke reached out for my assistance with general WordPress maintenance. Following the PF brand standards guide, I created landing pages that are being used for a variety of different campaigns. We’re in the process of creating a plan for performance updates, as the theme being used is preventing ideal load times. We will leverage Cloudflare CDN and other server-side management tools to compensate for an inadequately optimized theme.
